Health writers congratulate Enabulele, World Medical Association President-elect
Health Writers Association of Nigeria (HEWAN) yesterday sent a congratulatory message to former President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Dr. Osahon Enabulele following his recent election as the President of the World Medical Association, (WMA).
Enabulele, a Chief Consultant Family Physician and current President of Commonwealth Medical Association, CMA emerged as the WMA President-elect following almost one week period of voting by participating National Medical Associations all over the world.
He will oversee the affairs of the association during the 2022 – 2023 Executive year.
The health writers in the message signed by Chioma Obinna and Lucy Osuizigbo-Okechukwu, HEWAN’s President and Secretary respectively, described Enabulele as “ the most deserving person” for the WMA post. The letter reads:
“Your election has shown that you are capable, hardworking and the most deserving person for this post. Also, your style of handling issues with dedication and positivity in the country’s health sector during your tenure as the President of Nigerian medical Association, (NMA) has always been an inspiration to many.
“Your commitment to promoting excellence and professionalism in the medical profession and Nigeria’s health system over the years is glaring for all to see.
We are, indeed, proud of your achievements, especially as you continue to serve as a role model for upcoming Nigerians in your profession. We must admit that the hard work and dedication of all these years has finally paid off in the form of this post.
“You achieved so much when you were elected as the president of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and currently the President, Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA), and we are sure you will make Nigeria and Nigerian health journalists and indeed the world proud with this position as time passes by.
“We look forward to continuing together as partners in progress, as you steer the headship of the World Medical Association, (WMA) during the 2022 – 2023 Executive year.
“We are using this opportunity to let you know that we will stand by you to inform, enlighten and to regain the trust and interest of Nigerians in the project of strengthening the health system.
“Once again, HEWAN heartily congratulates you and members of the Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA) on this feat. We wish you success during this period as the President of the global body.”
