Situation report on Yellow fever as at September 2019 by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that 34 deaths have been recorded in three states of the Federation. Katsina recorded the highest with 23 deaths followed by Bauchi (10) and Kano (1).
Since the outbreak of the epidemic in August in Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA), Bauchi, suspected and confirmed cases with an epidemiological have been reported in four other states – Borno, Kano, Gombe and Katsina. 42 Local Government in all five affected states have reported cases.
So far, a total 243 suspected cases have been reported in the five states: Bauchi (84), Borno (82), Gombe (7), Kano (4) and Katsina (66).
A total of 28 cases were confirmed at the NCDC National Reference Laboratory and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
