Nigerian Physiotherapist offers free on-call service

A South Africa-based Nigerian physiotherapist has announced plans to provide on-call services to the public for a wide range of ailment requiring physiotherapy.

In as press release, Prof. Efe Useh who practised in Nigeria as a physiotherapist attached to the National Team, the Super Eagles and also had a stint with the Military hospital before relocating abroad said he is introducing free Virtual physiotherapy service through his “Comphysio” platform described as “therapy beyond boundaries.”

With Comphysio, people with conditions such as arthritis, stroke rehabilitation, Back and Neck pains and injuries resulting from sports will receive free physiotherapy service online.

“Physiotherapy services shall be provided through excellent virtual evaluation and treatment, based on clinical decision making by our consultants who are experienced physiotherapists with international training and exposure.

“Through comphysio, we wish to provide physiotherapy to all people through our electronic services by calls on our whatsApp number +27739898869. The on-call services and advice is free,” Prof. Useh further announced.

“As we begin to age and become relatively less active, we experience different ailments that require different physiotherapy interventions. The joints of our knees, hips, back and necks begin to ache, with occasional stiffness, tingling sensation and numbness. We are easily fatigued following minor tasks.

“Comphysio provides 3 on-call services for a wide range of ailment including arthritis, stroke rehabilitation, Back and Neck pains and injuries resulting from sports. Injuries resulting from leisure, birth and work are also managed by comphysio, ” the release stated.

Prof. Useh disclosed that the decision to provide the free service is borne out of the realisation that access to physiotherapy, globally, has become quite a challenge.

“The preventive, rehabilitative and management services offered by comphysio are therefore aimed at bridging these challenges and availing physiotherapy services beyond boundaries.

“Access to quality and evidence based physiotherapy is a challenge to the estimated 7.6 billion people in the world; with a ratio of about 1 physiotherapist to 170,000 persons in Nigeria.

“Those requiring physiotherapy are increasing. It is note worthy that there is limited access to physiotherapy because the number of physiotherapists all over the world are quite few to meet these demands,” he said.

Prof. Useh has over 35 years of work experience, practising as a physiotherapist in different countries in Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
