NMA lauds Osinbajo’s confidence in Nigerian healthcare
The Nigerian Medical Association has praised the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo for his confidence in the Nigerian healthcare system as he undergoes successful surgical procedure in the country.
The President of NMA, Dr. Uche Ojinmah said in a statement that the association commended the Vice-President for demonstrating confidence in the Nigerian doctor and the country’s health care system.
Ojinmah said: “NMA wishes to thank God for seeing our Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo through surgery. All Nigerian doctors are praying for his quick and complete recovery. NMA hereby also commends Mr. Vice-President for demonstrating confidence in the Nigerian doctor and healthcare system.
“We are certain that he was impressed. We call on other political office holders in Nigeria to emulate the Vice President and end medical tourism. It is time to fix our fragile healthcare system to the benefit of the common man and our economy.”
It will be recalled that the vice president successfully underwent a surgical procedure on his femur on Saturday, at the Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to a statement by the hospital management and signed by its Medical Director, Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, the procedure was performed by a team comprising six specialist Doctors.
“The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His xcellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, was admitted to the Duchess International Hospital GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, today on account of a fracture of his right femur (thigh bone), possibly related to a longstanding injury associated with a game of squash.
