Rotary to commission N12.9m medical facilities in Ogun communities

Rotary Club of Maryland, Ikeja District 9110 will, next week, commission two fully-equipped medical facilities worth about 12.9 million in two rural communities in Ogun State.

The facilities, according to the club, will help to solve challenges of accessing basic healthcare to the indigenes of Ososa and  Obasa of the State.

The President of the Club, Mr. Obadina Femi who disclosed this in a press conference on Monday said that the commissioning will be part of activities lined up to mark the club’s 19th anniversary.

The anniversary which comes up on Tuesday is themed: “Progressively Serving Humanity at 19.”

Femi said: “We carried out a needs assessment and we saw that those communities don’t have access to basic healthcare. The two medical cabins are worth about N12.9 million. Apart from the construction of medical cabins, it has been equipped with drugs..

“Our goal is service to humanity and anywhere we see there’s a dire need, we move in to execute projects.”

While listing all the humanitarian projects Maryland Ikeja District 9110 has been carrying out, he noted that every year they organise several medical outreaches in different communities whereby free medical services and drugs are given to the indigenes.

Past President of the club, Mr. Tunde, Olaniyan, explained that they have put structures in place to sustain the project.

Olaniyan said: “We have set up Rotary Community Corp comprising members of the community. So, they take ownership of the project and ensure that it is used and maintained properly.

“Ogun State government is also partnering because they are the ones providing medical personnel and that will ensure the sustainability of the project,” he explained.
