Ban Ki-moon honours fallen UN staff

Visiting UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon this morning laid a wreath at the UN House in Abuja to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the deadly attack on UN staff by Boko Haram.
At least 24 people died when a bomb-laden car exploded on August 26, 2011 at the Nigerian UN headquarters. The victims also included 12 non-UN staff.
The secretary-general hugged several relatives of the victims of the bombing during the ceremony and praised “the extraordinary fortitude and determination” of the survivors.
